Andy and Marla Stroup

I grew up in LaPlace, LA and like most kids who grew up in south Louisiana, I bleed purple and gold. After graduating from East St. John High School and spending a season in Galveston College playing baseball for the Whitecaps, I received the opportunity to live out the dream of a lifetime…playing football for the LSU Tigers!

 

It was during my days as a Tiger that I came to know Christ. After the a couple deaths in my family, the FCA huddle at LSU, along with some teammates, helped me find the answers to the many questions I had about eternity and a life with Jesus. On January 1, 1998, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior and it has been one amazing ride!

 

After graduating from LSU, I accepted the call to full-time ministry and moved to Shreveport, LA to join the amazing staff of Louisiana FCA! It was during my days in Shreveport that I met the love of my life. Marla served as a huddle leader at camp and a huddle sponsor at Walnut Hill Middle School. I am not sure that a FCA staff person can have a favorite school, but it is fair to say that I had a favorite huddle sponsor! We got married in 2010 and we both have kept each other laughing ever since!

 

In 2011, we were blessed with the opportunity to move back to the Baton Rouge area to lead FCA! The past 11 years have been very surreal for us! It is here where we started a family of our own. We have 4 children: Myla (10), River (8), Briggs (7) and Chapel (4). We have an amazing church family at Healing Place Church an It is such an honor to serve the LSU athletic family. Having the opportunity to be used by God to make a difference in the place where he changed my live 24 years ago is truly amazing. I love my city and I love South Louisiana! GEAUX TIGERS!
